DIY Free Pattern of The Happy Cactus

Living in Arizona has inspired me to make this cuddly cactus! These are the items you'll need to make it:

-Green, red, and black felt

-White String

-Pom-poms

-Green, black, red, and pink thread

-Polyfil (Save the bag, there may be another pattern attached!-Mine had a teddy bear pattern)

-Paper

-Tape

-Scissors

-Marking Pen

-Sewing Machine (Optional)

-2 Needles (1 for thread and 1 for yarn)

Directions:

1. Start by printing off the Free Happy Cactus Pattern and taping the two sheets together. Cut out the cactus and mouth after taping the sheets together.

2. Fold your green felt in half (or place two pieces together) and trace the pattern with your marking pen. Cut out the Cactus and sew the two pieces together. I used a sewing machine with a 1/4 inch seam allowance, but you can also hand sew it together. Leave about 2-3 inches open to hide the stitching.

3. Turn the cactus right side out and stuff it with the polyfil. Use small amounts and fill the limbs and corners first. Once stuffed, sew the opening shut using a slip stitch method.

4. Using your marking pen, draw eyes on the green cactus. Use the black thread (or a color of your choice) to stitch the eyes.

5. Next, trace and cut out the mouth on the black felt. Cut a small piece for the tongue on the red felt. Sew both pieces onto the green cactus (I sewed the black first, then the red onto the cactus).

6. Using your needle for the yarn, stitch the white yarn onto the cactus and tie a knot to hold them in place.

7. After that, sew a pom-pom onto the sides of the cactus.

I hope your little ones love The Happy Cactus as much as Zoe does!
