Furniture Flips
INSPIRATION. CREATIVITY. OLD TO NEW.

Kitchen Cabinet
March 12, 2021
This was a piece I liked but didn't appreciate the color. It had that golden, orange fake wood color. I started off by painting it white and then ended up staining it to give it a warmer, rich color. I also have white walls so I needed some contrast between the two.
How to create this look:
-
Clean cabinet and take apart pieces to make painting easier and cleaner
-
Using Waverly brand Nimbus Chalk Paint, paint the pieces with two coats, drying between coats
-
After drying, sand the chalk paint-I like a more distressed look so I sand the edges down enough to see peek-a-boos of the wood underneath
-
Using Rust-Oleum Wood Stain and a rag, wipe stain onto piece-this needs to be quick so you can get even strokes
-
Using a separate rag, wipe away excess stain and let it dry
-
Once dry, add two coats of Minwax Polycrylic Finish
-
When dry, put pieces back together
***Optional: Paint the inside a different color like teal, beige, or a fun design***
My Furniture Flips
My sister and I used to have a booth at The Brass Armadillo where we would sell our handmade creations and furniture flips. We both have a passion for turning something old or unwanted into something new and beautiful. Here are some of the items I flipped. I hope it will inspire you to also create!
